Country Park Café Plans

Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park are inviting us to have our say on expanding visitor facilities there.

For the last 12 months they have been working with Rushcliffe Borough Council, Franklin Ellis Architects and The University of Nottingham on a proposal to refurbish and upgrade the existing building – and to extend it to create a new café.

Now they’re holding a public consultation for the proposed café and resource centre this Wednesday the 28th of September between 4pm and 7pm.

Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park logoThe Friends Group said “We hope this project will be an exemplar for sustainable building design and renewable technologies. To that end the University of Nottingham have been – and will continue to – advise on the design, materials and building techniques to ensure we create a building with a minimal carbon footprint. We would welcome you to come on the 28th to see the proposed plans and give us your feedback and hopefully backing for our project. There will be a short presentation at 5.30pm.”

They are keen to stress that at this stage they have no funding in place and so would welcome assistance from anyone with relevant expertise who would be willing to get involved in the project.  In particular they are looking for advice on quantity surveying, structural engineering, construction and help to draw up a business plan.

If you can’t make the meeting, but would like to help, you can contact Rushcliffe Country Park Friends Group HERE.
