“Come and Sing With Us!”

Ruddington Choral Society is beginning its new season next week – and is inviting villagers who like to sing to come forward.

Publicity officer Pat Beale says: “Do you want to feel exhilarated, inspired, joyful and do something that enriches your life and the lives of others? Would you like to be part of something that brings you into contact with other like-minded people? Do you want to do something that will not only make you feel better but will actually do you good whilst enjoying and creating some of the world’s greatest music? If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” then come along and sing with the Ruddington & District Choral Society!”

The society was formed in 1962 as an evening class and has since grown and developed into a group of around sixty members who live in the Nottingham area. They meet on Monday evenings in school terms, generally from September to May.

Pat continues: “We are currently seeking to expand and are accepting new members. Whether you’re a soprano, alto, tenor or bass (we are especially keen to enlist a few more tenors!) we would love you to join us. RDCS has been a leading light in the musical life of Nottinghamshire for over 50 years and usually performs three concerts each year, with weekly rehearsals.”

Their next concert is, in fact, on November 24th in St Peter’s Church when they’ll be accompanied by The Ruddington Chamber Ensemble. They’ll be performing Schubert’s Mass in G and other works.

Rehearsals begin on 3rd September at St Peter’s Church, from 7.15pm to 9.15pm, and then take place on subsequent Monday evenings at St Peter’s School.
