Cheaper Ruddington bus travel for 16 & 17 year olds!

Ruddington’s main bus operator has announced that passengers aged 16 and 17 will shortly be able to take advantage of lower fares.  This comes as the age threshold for adult rates on Nottingham City Transport increases from 16 to 18 this weekend. From Sunday 28th August anyone aged 17 or below catching our Navy 3 or Green 10 NCT services to or from Ruddington will be able to pay just £1 – in a move designed to help apprentices, college and sixth form students across the city.  The same fare will also apply across other NCT routes within Nottingham.

Bus-Navy3+G10-abstractAnthony Carver-Smith, Marketing Manager at Nottingham City Transport said “With young people required to stay in further education, an apprenticeship or traineeship upon completion of their GCSEs, our adjustment to the age threshold for reduced fares makes travel more affordable as young people continue their education”.

For all students of any age looking to drive down the cost of travel even further, Nottingham City Transport is also offering academic and calendar year Easyrider smart cards.

Students purchasing an academic or calendar year Easyrider pass before 22nd October 2016 can take advantage of limited time reduced rates of £219 and £229 respectively. Passes go on sale on 27th August 2016 and offer travel from just 65p per day.

Easyrider smart cards are available from the Nottingham City Transport Travel Centre in the Old Market Square. Customers that have previously held an Easyrider card are asked to take their existing card along and complete an application form available in the Travel Centre. First-time customers will need to present proof of age or a valid student ID containing the course expiry date.
