Body Centre Closes Down

Fitness fans, community and youth groups in Ruddington have been left shocked and dismayed by the sudden closure of  Project Body UK on The Green.

This was the organisation selected by Nottinghamshire County Council to take over the running of the former Young Peoples’ Centre just two years’ ago – after spending cuts meant that NCC could no longer afford to run it themselves.

Since that time many different, local community groups have begun to use the building alongside the gym’s own health and fitness projects. Then, on the 22nd of June this year, Project Body UK re-launched the Ruddington Youth Club for the young people of Ruddington.

Now it seems all that hard work and progress has unexpectedly come to an end – without a full explanation having been given so far.

This is the message posted by Ryan Charlesworth on Project Body UK’s Facebook page:

“Important Notice – Club Closure

Dear Members, Clients, and Users

It is with a very heavy heart that I write to you.

On Thursday, this week we were forced to close the Body Centre. Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to find a solution and have therefore made the heart wrenching decision to close the doors of the Body Centre for the very last time.

Two and a half years ago, we set out with a dream to create a club that was different, with an amazing atmosphere, with a big family feel. Somewhere the people of Ruddington could be proud of and which allowed a range of activities to take place and encouraged people from every walk of life to change their lifestyle and be healthier, fitter and happier within themselves.

I hope we managed in our short time to achieve this with those who we served.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has joined us on our journey. We have had an amazing 2 years and will sorely miss our little community, members and all the friends we have made.

We would also like to apologise to everyone that enjoyed the club. We have invested all our time, effort and resources into creating not only a business for us but a community facility for Ruddington to enjoy. Sadly, it was not meant to be.

We are in discussions with a number of local clubs to try and arrange a discounted membership for you all. If we can arrange something we will post it on Facebook for you next week

We feel there may still be an opportunity for someone to take on the business if they so wish. Any expressions of interest should be made to ryan.charlesworth76@gmail.com. If this is something you wanted to pursue please do so quickly as the business is now in the process of being closed for good with equipment etc. finding new homes. Despite our difficulties we do feel there is still a business here for the right person

project-body-uk-square-logoThis is definitely not the end of our journey but it is a blip along the road. The Body Centre and PBUK LTD will be closed as of immediate effect. Project Body UK will remain as a brand and will continue to deliver Personal Training, corporate wellness, and kids fitness. How and where this takes place will become clearer over the next few weeks. For Personal Training clients, your trainer will be in touch to arrange the details.

As you can imagine this is a very difficult time for us as owners as well as all those who have worked for us. We would like to take this time to thank each and every one of them for their commitment, support, hard work and friendship. We are truly sorry for the outcome.

Please be aware that the closure of the club also affects Schools Out Ruddington. Liz will communicate to all parents regarding plans for her business. It will also affect the Youth club, Sure Start services, table tennis club and Sunflower design. Again, we are truly sorry for the challenges these will now be faced with.

If you have any queries regarding the club’s closure, then please email Ryan at ryan.charlesworth76@gmail.com.

Thank you and Bye for Now.

Ryan and the Team @ The Body Centre by Project Body UK”

It remains unclear whether there’s any chance of issues being resolved and the centre reopening for business other than through a change of management.  We’ll keep you posted with any further news…
