The Big Purple Party

No, this has nothing to do with June’s general election! It’s actually a fundraiser by the Nottinghamshire Hospice charity, running from Monday the 22nd to Sunday the 28th May. And they’d like Ruddington folk to get involved!

Ruddington Shop Manager, Tessa Eastel, says “It’s a week-long event and party that’s happening across the county and everyone is invited to join us! Our goal is to ‘Paint Ruddington Purple’ and there are lots of ways you can join in the fun.”

And she’s listed a few ideas to get us started:-

  • Hold a coffee morning with a purple dress code and purple cakes
  • Add a purple dish or drink to your business menu and donate the proceeds to Nottinghamshire Hospice
  • Hold a purple dress down day in the office
  • Hold a bake sale
  • Spend a few hours volunteering at one of their shops
  • If you run a shop or business in Ruddington, put a purple window display up!

Founded in 1980, Nottinghamshire Hospice is a community-based palliative care centre which provides care services to adults who have terminal and life-limiting illnesses and gives support and respite to their families and carers. But it costs £2.7 million each year to run – hence the need for your help!

You can download a special Purple Party Pack from www.nottshospice.org/party. And, of course, you can pop into the Ruddington shop on High Street – or call them on 0115 910 1008 ext 215.
