Eagle-eyed residents may have spotted local Neighbourhood Policing Team officers conducting ‘Speed Gun’ operations in Ruddington this morning.
The speed checks follow a meeting last week at the Ruddington Arms organised by our MP Ruth Edwards with Rushcliffe Police Inspector Rob Lawton and Ruddington Beat Officer PC Kai Kemish. Villagers attending that meeting raised speeding and traffic offences as their number one concern here in Ruddington – discussing potential actions that they would like to see the police take to tackle this. In response, Inspector Lawton told the residents about the scheme he has set up, where his team will organise speed trap operations based on feedback from the community about where and when they will be the most helpful.
That scheme has been mobilised this week. As well as along Loughborough Road (above) there have already been similar speed gun checks in Bradmore, Bingham, Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave, East Leake and other rural locations such as Aslockton, Newton and Shelton.
Rushcliffe Police warn: “Our rural patrols will continue, and further locations identified will be visited in the coming days with a view to officers positively engaging with any motorists caught exceeding the speed limit. Please continue to watch your speed and manner of driving.”
