Police have issued a warning that there have been several overnight thefts of work tools, specifically from Ford Transit vans, reported in Ruddington.
Vans targeted this week were on Bladon Road , Upper Canaan and Peacock Close. But police say there was no sign of forced entry to the vehicles – perhaps meaning that the thieves have been able to obtain the coded keys or some other hi-tech unlocking device to gain access.
At around 3.30am on Tuesday (25th July) a man and a woman were seen to get out of a silver coloured car and attempt to enter the rear of a van parked on Churchill Drive. But they were disturbed and got back into the vehicle.
Nottinghamshire Police advises: “If you own a Ford Transit vehicle please consider extra vehicle security such as security locks/bolts for your doors. Please try to remove any tools from your vans overnight.”
Ruddington residents are urged to remain vigilant against more possible attempted Transit tool thefts. And, if you clocked any registration plates of suspicious vehicles potentially involved in these incidents, it would be of particular help now that Rushcliffe Police have new, mobile ANPR cameras in use.
If you have seen anything suspicious – or have any CCTV footage – you’re asked to ring the Nottinghamshire Constabulary on 101.
