Women who want to run with others – or get back into running – are being invited along to a series of FREE ‘Couch to 5k’ running sessions starting in Ruddington this week.
They’ve been organised by Notts Women Runners in Rushcliffe Country Park since 2016 – as the sub group ‘Ruddy Rebels’ – but have been on ‘hiatus’ since COVID-19 struck, just over two and a half years’ ago.
Rachel Lesesne, one of the three run leaders, explains: “Our last official beginners group graduated in March 2020 {pictured top}, just a week before ‘lockdown’. Throughout the pandemic, the run leaders have continued to support and motivate our ladies to continue running through virtual challenges and eventually resuming our weekly social runs. It’s so fantastic that we are finally able to run our ‘Ruddy Rebels Class of 2022 Couch to 5k beginners’. It’s been a long time coming!”
The first run is this Thursday 13th October, starting at 7pm, and the sessions then continue every week at the same time for ten weeks. The runners will be meeting up near the entrance to the Nottingham Heritage Railway along Mere Way, and you can sign up for some or all of their upcoming sessions for free by clicking >>HERE<<.
Rachel adds: “We hope to support and encourage lots more local women, whatever their current fitness level, to take the step to join us and achieve their 5k goal as part of our amazing, friendly and inclusive running club!”
