Ruddington residents are being invited to public consultation sessions on the draft Village Plan today (Friday 21st) and tomorrow (Saturday 22nd).
The sessions mark the next step forward in the development of the Village Plan, with residents having the opportunity to provide feedback and put their views forward.
The Village Plan has been developed over the past three years, with initial discussions providing the basis for the Ruddington Village Plan questionnaire. The questionnaire was completed by 576 respondents and covered a wide range of areas concerning life in the village.
Results from the questionnaire have since been collated and analysed, with the Village Plan steering group – an independent body made up of local volunteers and a maximum of three Parish Council representatives – putting together a series of action points in accordance with views expressed in the questionnaire. Some action points received overwhelming support, while others reflected the views of a significant minority. A few action points were the result of individual suggestions which the steering group felt would significantly enhance the village.
These action points will be presented at the consultation sessions, giving attendees the opportunity to see how the Village Plan is taking shape. There will also be the chance for residents to leave feedback and give their views on aspects of the Village Plan. The steering group has been advised and supported by Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire throughout the Village Plan process.
The results of the questionnaire and the subsequent action points will form the basis of the Ruddington Village Plan, a vision setting out how the village should develop over the next 15 years. Next steps involve meetings between Village Plan representatives and other relevant bodies, including the Parish Council and Highways authority.
The Village Plan will cover potential new facilities, improvements to services and action on village problems, and seeks to ensure that Ruddington remains a vibrant local community.
The consultation sessions are open to all local residents and are on a drop-in basis from 4pm-8pm on Friday 22nd July and 10am-2pm on Saturday 23rd July at St Peter’s Rooms.
