“Pinksy” for Parish Council

Mark Pinks says he is “humbled” to have won the Ruddington Parish Council By-Election held to fill the vacant seat in Camelot Ward.

Following the vote, on the 23rd February at the Village Hall, the results were:

1st: Mark Pinks: 120 votes
2nd: Yvonne Lishman: 94 votes
3rd: Ian Wilson: 87 votes

Mark Pinks is therefore elected as the new councillor for Camelot Ward.

Mark Pinks

“Pinksy” is an IT professional who has lived and worked in Ruddington since 2005. He and his partner have three children, one of whom attended both village schools. Mark is a governor at St Peter’s, where he also established an after-school computer club, and he is a volunteer at the local NG11 Foodbank.

After the votes were counted last night Mark had time for a celebratory pint at his local, The Victoria Tavern, before the official announcement. This morning he told RUDDINGTON.info “A huge thank you to all 301 who voted in the Ruddington Parish Council election for the Camelot Ward! It is wonderful to see so many people engaging in the process and taking the time to think about our village and the role of the Parish Council. It was an honour to run alongside such committed, intelligent and thoughtful candidates as Ian and Yvonne; I know they will continue to work hard for our community. Thank you so much for electing me – I am humbled to be chosen as a Parish Councillor. I look forward to the work ahead, and hope that as the months pass, you are confident that I am doing all I can to represent your views.”

On the RPC website, Chairman of the Council, Councillor Allen Wood said “I welcome Mark to the Parish Council and look forward to working with him for the benefit of Ruddington.”

Councillor Wood also commented on Nick Tegerdine’s recent resignation from Ruddington Parish Council:

“I would like to thank Nick for his time on the Parish Council, for the immense amount of work that he has done and acknowledge the positive changes that he has initiated. As a committee chairman over the past number of years Nick has been central to all the developments that have been made and possibilities we are considering. He has also done much work behind the scenes supporting the staff through some difficult times. Gary (the Clerk) has asked me to add his thanks to mine. Nick’s wise counsel will be missed by both of us, as well as the Parish Council as a whole.”

Ten electors from Easthorpe Ward are now required to request a by-election by Tuesday the 14th of March to fill this vacancy. Otherwise the seat will be filled by co-option.
