Two months after Ruddington’s much loved traditional tearoom was forced to close its doors due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, it’s now back in action!
For the time being, like other hospitality businesses up and down the country, it is for takeaways and deliveries only. But at least some of its popular fayre is now finally available again for villagers to enjoy at home.
Owner Lesley Wells has been running the former Horspool’s Bakery Shop on Church Street since July 2012 and says she has really missed being here for her loyal customers. As of 23rd May 2020, she is opening again on Saturdays only between 8.30am and 12.30pm – offering a slightly ‘slimmed down’ menu to start with.
Lesley reveals: “Due to people asking me if I am doing takeaway I have decided to give it a go! Since I started advertising this week I have had so much positive response it’s been inspiring. I’ve already had orders into June for afternoon teas and cakes and orders for our normal bacon and sausage cobs.”
‘Social distancing’ will be in place for those collecting from the shop to keep both staff and customers safe during these difficult times. Deliveries are also available on Friday and Saturday – with FREE delivery within Ruddington and a small charge for other locations.
On the menu are:
- Homemade quiche (various fillings) £2.50 per slice
- Homemade cakes as cupcakes (including Lemon Meringue & Mocha) £2 each
- Sausage and bacon cobs £2.20
- Sausage Rolls £1.50
Lesley confirms they are also baking their range of homemade cakes: Fresh cream Victoria Sponge, Chocolate Cake, Carrot cake, Coffee & Walnut and Cherry Bakewell Cheesecake (pictured below) priced at £20 each.
Pre-orders can be made in advance via The Old Bakehouse Tearoom’s Facebook Page or on Saturday mornings via the usual 0115 9846126 telephone number. Pre-orders are required by Thursday for Friday delivery and by Friday for Saturday delivery.
