Ruddington Library to Close…

…but thankfully it’s only temporary!

Our library, on Church Street, is shutting its doors after this weekend for a TWO MONTH refurbishment. It will close at 1pm on Saturday (23rd December) and not re-open again until 9am on Saturday 17th February 2018.

Inspire, which runs Ruddington Library on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, explains: “We’ll be developing an inviting and modern space for reading, learning, and cultural and community activities. Changes to the library will include an inviting modern layout and extensive re-decoration, new shelving, essential electrical work, new flooring and a new automatic door.”

Unfortunately, it seems the external appearance of the library – which has always caused controversy for its unattractive, flat-roofed, sixties’ design in the heart of Ruddington’s conservation area – is unlikely to change significantly.

During the closure events like the monthly “Rattle, Rhyme & Roll” and “Scrabble” sessions won’t be taking place. However you can continue to use your membership card to take out books, etc, at any other library across the county – with Keyworth and West Bridgford being our nearest alternatives. You can also renew your books online at www.inspireculture.org.uk/renew or by calling 0300 500 80 80.

Inspire adds: “We apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause and look forward to welcoming you to your new library space.”
