Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

A big hearted twelve year-old from Ruddington has lost her long hair for charity today – so that she can help out other children in need.

Louise Roome, who attended St Peter’s Junior School before starting at Rushcliffe School, received her haircut this lunchtime (Saturday 13th November) from Danielle at ‘Hare & Rabbit’ in the village. She is donating her previously waist-length locks to The Little Princess Trust – which provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young adults who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses. The Trust receives no formal funding and so relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community donors and fundraisers like Louise.

Louise, who lives on Clifton Road with her family, explains: “I came across Little Princess Trust on the internet. I thought how sad it must be for little girls to not be able to enjoy their hair anymore, the way that I’ve enjoyed my long hair all these years. I decided to donate my hair but, when I found out each wig costs £550 to make, I asked my mum and dad if we could try and fundraise the money to make the wig as well.

Mum, Jo Roome, says: “It was a difficult decision for her, but one I don’t think she will regret – as her new hair looks great! We’re so proud of her – and grateful to those who have already donated.”

As well as giving them her own hair, Louise has also pledged to fundraise the £550 for The Little Princess Trust to create the wig. If you’d like to help her reach this target you can donate online >>HERE<<.
