A Ruddington hairdressing salon, chiropodist, photography studio, joinery firm and electrician may all need to find new premises if a new housing application off Easthorpe Street gets the go ahead.
A development of seven new homes there is being proposed by landowner Jeff Hind with plans drawn up by Carlton Design Architecture Limited. Permission is being sought to demolish numbers 35 and 37, Easthorpe Street. The first is now a residential property but the second is home to Tina’s Hair Studio and Gibson Sharp Chiropody. It is also proposed that the commercial premises now occupied by Saul Isaac Photography at 39, Easthorpe Street are redeveloped – to include the demolition of the existing large conservatory (currently used as their studio) and the erection of a new building in its place. The business has confirmed it will reluctantly be forced to relocate if the plans are approved – affecting eight members of staff.
Knocking down several other commercial buildings on the site is also in the plans – with Designer Fitted Kitchens & Bedrooms, an electrician’s workshop and a former motorcycle training facility all set to be bulldozed.
It’s suggested that the current driveway to Orchard End would be improved to facilitate better access to the property – and, of course, to the seven new homes which are proposed for the site (see below).
