A postponed road closure on one of Ruddington’s key access routes now won’t happen until the summer say Nottinghamshire County Council. Revised dates given to roadworks.org indicated that it had been rescheduled to begin next Monday, the 13th of March. But Ruddington Parish Council has advised us that the work has been moved back yet again! A revised schedule now indicates the 5th of June to the 28th of July is most likely.
Originally the closure was due to start on Monday 6th February but the improvements were put on hold until roadworks nearby on the A52 and the delayed “Tavern Island” roundabout construction in Ruddington were completed. Now it seems we have further respite before more major traffic disruption.
Whenever the closure finally happens, Flawforth Lane for around 200 metres from the Flawford Churchyard corner up to the Wheatcroft roundabout is set to be be shut for seven weeks due to Nottinghamshire County Council Highways improvement work. This will involve the installation of a stormwater outfall along Flawforth Lane and an outfall into the drainage ditch.
Although it’s not officially a major route to and from our village it is a popular shortcut, particularly at peak times, so it will inevitably cause more hold-ups for drivers. During the closure period there will only be emergency access to this part of Flawforth Lane and motorists who would normally drive that way from the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane traffic lights to the roundabout will instead be diverted along the A60, via The Nottingham Knight roundabout, onto the A52 instead – and vice versa. We’ll keep you posted!
Meantime village residents along Fuller Street and Top Road are being affected by new roadworks which began today (6th March). Fuller Street is closed to traffic for around two weeks for 30 metres from Musters Road to enable Severn Trent sewer work. Until this is completed the remainder of Fuller Street and Top Road onto Asher Lane have become two-way.
No bus routes will be directly impacted by any of these closures.
