Ruddington’s drivers are being warned to expect travel delays during the closure of a popular village access route.
Flawforth Lane for around 200 metres from the Flawford Churchyard corner up to the Wheatcroft roundabout will be shut for about seven weeks due to Nottinghamshire County Council highways improvement work. Originally the work was due to start TODAY (Monday 6th February) but Ruddington Parish Council has been told the “closure has been delayed until further notice”. An initial update on roadworks.org suggested the work would take place from Monday the 27th February until Friday the 14th of April – involving the installation of a stormwater outfall along Flawforth Lane and an outfall into the drainage ditch. But it’s now confirmed the improvements have been put on hold for longer until major roadworks nearby on the A52 and the roundabout construction in Ruddington are completed.
Although it’s not officially a major route to and from our village it is a popular shortcut, particularly at peak times, so it will inevitably cause inconvenience when it happens. During the closure period there will only be emergency access to this part of Flawforth Lane and motorists who would normally drive that way from the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane traffic lights to the roundabout will instead be diverted along the A60, via The Nottingham Knight roundabout, onto the A52 instead – and vice versa.
No bus routes will be directly affected by the closure.
Our thanks also to Pat at West Bridgford Wire for originally flagging up the roadworks information and to RPC and Craig Baum for their useful updates.
