July Village Market

Held on the first Saturday of each month is Ruddington Village Market. It’s a super summer shopping experience. There’s always a huge variety of stalls on The Green. Market day is also a great chance to stroll around and visit many of Ruddington’s local shops, too.

On Saturday 1st July, over seventy-five traders are expected from 9am until 2pm on the village green. The listing of visiting retailers, with their corresponding stall numbers, is shown on the map below:

The monthly market is a project of the award winning Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP). The market has grown in many ways: initiatives include a Young Entrepreneurs’ Programme (to mentor 16 to 30 year olds into market stall businesses) a partnership with the Trent Bridge Trust’s YouNG Project (to offer under 16s the chance to trade), an electrical repair service in tandem with Illumination Repairs CIC – and locals can ask about the village by visiting Ruddington Parish Council‘s tent. Councillors welcome your ideas or concerns for the local area, and can tell you more about what’s coming up in Ruddington.

“For the kids, we’ll have Rachel Murray the storyteller under the Monkey puzzle tree. She’s doing sessions at 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30. We also have The Wee Donkey Company back, too (at Stall 67).” says the market organisers who are launching their NEW Newsletter this weekend.

“It’s a quarterly newsletter filled with fun content; recipes, interviews with stallholders, recommendations from volunteers and exclusive market news.” Sign up for the Market Newsletter >>HERE<< .

‘Live’ music will be from 9.30am with The Cellotapes – an acoustic quartet who are multi-instrumentalists!

Also on Saturday will be entertainment from the Dolphin Morris Men.

Charity of the month is Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust at Stall 52. Please pop along and find out about all the creative events and fundraising opportunities you could participate in this year. The Trust is keen to share news about the Hayward House Appeal – a fundraising campaign for this ‘specialist palliative care unit in the grounds of the City Hospital – centred on the needs of patients and their families’.

The White Horse on Church Street – the Village Market’s original venue – is also staging its usual smaller market on the same date – also running from 9am to 2pm.

The White Horse hosts its own market on the first Saturday of each month

Market days are very busy in Ruddington, and parking spaces are rather limited in the village centre, so residents are encouraged to walk there, if they can. For visitors from further afield, organisers advise the arrangements about parking this month are as follows:

“We have free parking at Sellors’ Field with a free shuttle bus between 9am-2:30pm. We’re advising people coming from Clifton, Wilford and the west to use this, and those coming from the east side to use Mere Way and Rushcliffe Country Park.”

For Rushcliffe Country Park and Mere Way, you can head to NG11 6JS. The price is £1 for the Country Park or you may find free street parking. It’s about a nice 10-minute walk along Elms Park to the market.

Please note: there is no shuttle bus serving the Country Park this month.

If you’re coming to Ruddington by bus, there’s an NCT discounted Market Day travel ticket. Village Market organisers have partnered with Nottingham City Transport to offer 15% off adult and Grouprider tickets on Market Days. All people need to do is scroll down to the NCT Partners category in the Mobile Tickets section of the NCTX Buses app, choose your ticket, enter discount code RUDDMARKET, and you’re good to go!”

Have a #RuddyGoodDayOut!
