5th Birthday Village Market
This February it’s Happy 5th Birthday to Ruddington Village Market!
Held on the first Saturday of each month from 9am to 2pm, the open market has become a magnet for shoppers from our village as well as much further afield. There’s a large variety of stalls on The Green plus chance to visit Ruddington’s many local shops and retailers, too.
Organiser Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) says: “Thanks to every single visitor, supporter and trader that has been involved in some way in the past five years. We couldn’t have kept going, and grown in such a way without your support!”
On Saturday 3rd February you can expect over seventy traders alongside other stalls and stands on the village green. Ruddington Parish Council will be there to share their latest news and chat to villagers about any areas of concern. The RSPB is this month’s charity, and it’ll be the first market for ‘Suspended In Sunbeams’ who are this year’s ‘Young Entrepreneur’ stall. Entertaining us on the music stage will be singer/songwriters Tash Bird from 10am and Shaman Erginer from midday.
You may also like to support a good cause by trying to win a special Birthday Cake made to celebrate the occasion by The Ruddington Cake Company. Just get a £1 raffle ticket during market day up until the big draw 1pm from the Market Bar – with all proceeds going to Clifton NG11 Foodbank.
The full list of this month’s visiting retailers – with their corresponding stall numbers on the map – is shown below:
The White Horse on Church Street – the Village Market’s original venue – is staging its usual smaller market on the same date – running from 9am to 2pm.
Also in the village centre this Saturday will be a ‘Craft Market’ in St Peter’s Rooms and ‘Pop Up’ makers’ market in Parker’s Yard at our Framework Knitters’ Museum on Chapel Street.
Market days are usually very busy in Ruddington, with parking spaces rather limited in the village centre, so residents are asked to walk there, if you are able.
Visitors from further afield, who live close enough to a Nottingham City Transport bus route, are encouraged to use public transport via a special, discounted Market Day travel ticket. NCT offers 15% off adult and Grouprider tickets on Market Days. All you need to do is scroll down to the ‘NCT Partners’ category in the ‘Mobile Tickets’ section of the NCTX Buses app, choose your ticket, enter discount code RUDDMARKET, and you’ll get the reduced fare.
Failing that, if you really do need to come to Ruddington by car, drivers are asked to avoid parking in our village centre and instead navigate to postcode NG11 6JS to make use of the street parking available at Ruddington Fields Business Park or pay just £1 to park in the Rushcliffe Country Park car park. From there it’s just a 10 minute walk along Elms Park to Ruddington Village Market along the route shown below. Alternatively there’ll also be a shuttle bus running from Mere Way at 30 minute intervals to get you to the market and back.
Have a #RuddyGoodDayOut!
