Comedy at The Cottage!

*** THIS IS NOW SOLD OUT ***

Please see update below. Thanks.

A Ruddington hotel which is well known for hosting “live” entertainment events in our village is introducing an exciting NEW venture – ‘Ruddington Comedy Club’!

The Cottage Hotel on Easthorpe Street will be bringing the first such event to Ruddington on Friday 22nd November at 7.00pm in association with Funhouse Comedy.

Hotel Director Sue Martin says: “I’ve been to a number of Funhouse Comedy promoted events and was impressed by the standard of the comedians – really top notch. It suddenly dawned on me that the space they were in was very similar to the space I was in, and I wondered if it was something we could do here. I wanted to bring something to Ruddington that residents can’t normally get in the village. It’s an event that people can walk to, enjoy a drink and a laugh with their friends. If you do need to come by bus then the Number 10 stops right outside – and you can just stumble on there afterwards”

On the bill for this debut Ruddington Comedy Club show will be Tanyalee Davis (from Live at The Apollo & The John Bishop Show) and Howard Read (as seen on The Royal Variety Performance) plus stand-up and magic from Alan Hudson (as seen on Penn & Teller Fool Us) whilst the compere is event organiser and Nottingham comedy stalwart Spiky Mike.

Sue promises: “They’re all excellent quality comedians! The kitchen will be in action from half past five, with food available until a quarter to eight, and the comedy starting at a quarter past eight. There’ll be two intervals between the three acts, giving you chance to buy drinks in-between. We are in the process of completely refurbishing our bar and as a first stage we have already refitted the bar itself and added additional products which have been very well received.”

Priced at just £10 per head, it’s hoped the idea of a Ruddington comedy night will be a popular one. “If this one goes well I’ll be looking to book another one for the beginning of next year” says Sue. “Initially I’m hoping for four during the first year – but ultimately I would love it to become a monthly event. We do recommend people get tickets in advance. You could chance it on the door but, the way sales are going already, I wouldn’t risk it!”

Tickets are available now via the Funhouse Comedy website, subject to a booking fee. However, by calling in at the Cottage Hotel, emailing enquiries@thecottagehotel.co.uk or ‘phoning them on 0115 984 6882 to secure your seats, there is no additional charge.

UPDATE 12th OCTOBER:

With still SIX WEEKS to go before the event, organisers report that the this very first ‘Ruddington Comedy Club’ night is already completely sold out!

Because there has been so much interest following the RUDDINGTON.info promotion – with even some disappointed comedy fans now on a waiting list for this debut event – Sue confirms there will definitely be another one at The Cottage Hotel very soon. In fact, their next Comedy Club night has already been organised for Friday 28th February 2020.  You can register your interest now but, to avoid any potential confusion, seats for it will not go on sale until Friday 22nd November.

Thanks for your support!
