Ruddington is destined to be back on the national homebuyers’ radar soon after another visit from the popular Channel 4 property programme – presented by Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp (pictured). Villagers were alerted to the filming of an episode of “Location, Location, Location” here when cameras and crew appeared on The Green this morning. The reality show, now in its 17th year, follows Phil and Kirstie trying to find the perfect home for a different set of buyers each week. Frame Breakers’ CAMRA Accolade

Another of Ruddington’s pubs has received wider recognition – this time from Nottingham’s Branch of The Campaign for Real Ale. The Frame Breakers, at the corner of High Street and Kirk Lane, is one of the two runners-up announced today in its “Village Pub of the Year 2017” awards. Nominated pubs in the Nottingham area were judged on a number of criteria, which included beer quality, warmth of welcome and general mix of clientele, amongst other considerations. Ruddington Hotel is Best Bar None

Managers and staff at Ruddington’s Country Cottage Hotel are celebrating again after they won another accolade for taking extra steps to ensure customers are safe and have a great time when they visit. Our popular village hotel, conference, music and wedding venue – run by Julie Sturt and her son Andrew – secured the “Judges Choice Award 2016/17” for Rushcliffe. As Ruddington’s brand new roundabout nears completion villagers have already come up with a NAME for it following a week-long Twitter poll on @RUDDINGTON.info Out of the four options shortlisted for our unofficial, tongue-in-cheek, survey over half of those who voted decided it should be named “TAVERN ISLAND” in honour of The Victoria Tavern pub – which sits right next to the new look Wilford Road/Clifton Road junction. Valentine’s Day diners at one of our popular village inns are having to negotiate their way past protesters this evening. Nottingham Animal Rights activists have gathered at The Ruddington Arms from 7pm to 9pm, holding up signs and handing out, leaflets to object to ‘Ballotine of Foie Gras’ being an optional starter on the gastropub’s £38.50 romantic menu. Powder Panic Apology

Ruddington social media went into a bit of a frenzy at the weekend when piles of mysterious white powder appeared around our village centre! Speculation was rife as to who might be responsible and why – and even whether the unidentified substance may be harmful to our pets and wildlife. Organisers at Ruddfest, Ruddington’s annual beer and cider festival, said: We are aiming to stock over 150 different beers, ciders and perrys will be making a welcome return in June 2016, with over 150 tipples on offer for thirsty visitors to enjoy.
