‘Beer & Carols’ at the Pub

You’re being invited along to enjoy ‘Beer & Carols’ again this December in Ruddington village centre. After its successful debut in 2019 {top photo}, COVID-19 put the kibosh on it becoming an annual Christmas fixture at The Frame Breakers in subsequent years. However, Ruddington Baptist Church has now revived it for 2022, and everyone is welcome to go along to the pub and join in – or just sit and listen to their Music Group and Carols. It’s on Wednesday 14th December and begins at 7.30pm. Lyric sheets will be provided.…

Christmas 2022 in Ruddington

After the ‘lockdown’ Christmas of 2020, and the rather restrained festive season of 2021, Ruddington’s celebrations in 2022 look as if they might just be the biggest and best ever! That’s certainly the case for this weekend’s ‘Ruddington Christmas Market’ (on Saturday December 3rd) which, as previously reported, will comprise over a hundred indoor and outdoor stalls of food, drink and gifts, two covered pop-up bars and stages of live music, and children’s activities. Now organised by Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) it will take place along both High Street and Church Street (road closures…

If you settle down to watch “Royal Carols: Together at Christmas”, being shown this Christmas Eve on ITV, be sure to look out for a couple of well known faces from our village. Attending the star-studded evening at Westminster Abbey, by special invitation from Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, was Ruddington Co-op Member Pioneer Gwen Eyre (above left) who took along Carol Jaggers (right) as her guest. Carol and Gwen co-organise the over 55s coffee morning in Ruddington, whilst Carol has volunteered with Ruddington Girl-Guiding and the local food banks for many…

Countdown to Christmas in Ruddington

Whilst some of Ruddington’s main Christmas celebrations have already been and gone, residents and visitors can still look forward to more festive fun and activities over the holiday period. Continuing caution about Coronavirus – particularly the new Omicron variant – has led to some organisers and venues asking people to carry out a COVID-19 lateral flow test before mingling with others, and to wear face coverings according to the Government’s new ‘Plan B’ rules. Booking systems have also been introduced in some places to keep down numbers during the busiest…

Christmas at St Peter’s Church

Following their involvement again in this year’s Ruddington Christmas Fayre on Saturday, St Peter’s Church is reminding us of the range of festive events and services still to come this month. THIS Saturday, December 9th, Ruddington and District Choral Society, along with the Ruddington Chamber Ensemble and soloists from the University of Nottingham, are presenting “A Christmas Feast of Baroque Music”. They’ll be performing Bach’s Magnificat in D Major, Bach’s Wachet Auf Cantata, as well as the Pastorale from Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, the Pastoral Symphony from Handel’s Messiah, and the Sinfonia from…
