There were dramatic scenes in Ruddington this afternoon as a blaze swiftly spread out of control across several back gardens in our village. Three crews from Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue raced to the scene following the report of a fire on Fairham Close at 4.26pm – which quickly set fire to “multiple” sheds and outbuildings before firefighters could arrive to tackle the flames {Nottinghamshire Live photo above}. A woman had to be attended by ambulance staff following a blaze at her home in Ruddington this afternoon. Crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the property on Leys Road at just before 3pm after a fire was reported in one of the flats. Appliances from West Bridgford, Highfields and London Road rushed to the scene. Television viewing and internet browsing were brought to an abrupt halt in one area of Ruddington last night as around 124 homes lost power. Tuesday evening’s outage affected residents of Elms Park and Sheepfold Lane. One householder reported flames shooting from a manhole on the roadside – before emergency services and an electricity van arrived at the scene. Early Morning Blaze Hits Almost Two Thousand Homes

There were dramatic scenes in Ruddington during the early hours of this morning when an electricity sub-station on Old Station Drive caught fire – initially cutting power to 1,961 houses in our village. Flames were visible leaping high into the night sky. The family which owns a village property damaged during a blaze at the weekend has thanked those who reported the fire and prevented more serious damage. Firefighters from West Bridgford, Highfields, London Road and East Leake stations were at work in the early hours of this morning tackling a house fire in Ruddington. It’s just over two months since the relative peace and quiet of a Sunday evening in Ruddington was shattered by the dramatic arrival of fire crews, cordoning off High Street and smashing through the door to tackle a blaze at our village bookmakers.
