The Ruddington Pantry
Pop into our village pantry – which aims to help reduce waste in our community – on Wednesdays between 12.30pm and 1pm at St Peter’s Rooms.
‘The Ruddington Pantry’ is a ‘community fridge’ to rescue good quality, surplus food, free of charge from local food retailers, gardeners and restaurants. Individuals are also encouraged to donate to the fridge by dropping off any items from their cupboards they won’t be able to make use of before they go off or reach their ‘best before’ date. This includes tins, fresh fruit and vegetables and other grocery items, too.
In 2022 the Co-op announced a £500,000 partnership with the Hubbub fridge network to launch 100 new community fridges around the country increasing provision from 150 to 250. Ruddington’s was their first one in Nottinghamshire.
The Ruddington Pantry is co-ordinated by Carol Jaggers and Gwen Eyre (pictured below left), and run by volunteers.
It opens twice a week (every Wednesday and Sunday 4pm to 4.30pm) for anyone to collect items which they feel they can make use of. So please call in!
