Drivers are being warned to expect major disruption for up to three days – as works take place in Ruddington village centre. Residents, business-people, commuters and visitors will all be affected – as road closures, temporary traffic lights and parking restrictions are introduced.
Carriageway resurfacing by Via East Midlands is taking place on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council on Charles Street and Parkyns Street. This means both these roads will be closed, with no parking allowed, along their entire length (in red on the map below) between 7.00am and 5.00pm each day from Monday 25th February until Wednesday 27th February 2019. Traffic will be diverted via High Street, The Green and Church Street (in blue on the map).
Additionally, there will be temporary no parking, no waiting and no loading on parts of Church Street, and BOTH sides of High Street between its junctions with Church Street and Elms Gardens during at least some of this period – meaning village centre parking will be at a considerable premium (see the green lines on map).
As if this wasn’t enough, RUDDINGTON.info has also been told that temporary traffic lights will be in use from time to time on High Street and Church Street – since single lane traffic will be required when the ends of the two side streets are resurfaced.
UPDATE 25th February 7.50am:
NCT reported that its Navy 3 and Green 10 were being unexpectedly affected by these roadworks.
Until further notice, their buses would not serve these stops:
* The Green
* Chapel Street
* Ruddington Church
* Easthorpe Street (10 only to City)
Passengers were instead advised to use the stop on the High Street (outside The Framebreakers PH).
Buses were departing High Street then left Kirk Lane, left A60, left Easthorpe Street to right Rufford Road (Green 10) or to the end of Easthorpe Street and turning right Dutton’s Hill (Navy 3).
These restrictions were lifted just after 4.00pm and services resumed their normal routes within Ruddington. It is unclear whether further unexpected diversions will be needed during the remainder of these works – so please keep an eye out on NCT’s Twitter Feed for the latest news.
Ruddington residents are strongly advised to walk or cycle into the village centre during this period, if at all possible. Visitors and workers are encouraged to catch NCT’s Navy 3 or Green 10 buses to avoid the problem of not being able to park – but bear in mind further possible changes to the usual routes and stops.
