Some GOOD News for our Village Centre!

In an era of shop closures and pessimism there’s finally a bit of welcome business news for Ruddington…

Firstly, we can confirm that Philo’s Deli is to take over the empty shop unit at 1A, Church Street (pictured above right) recently vacated by Tanners.

Manager Jessica Hutchings told RUDDINGTON.info: “We already have the keys and work will start soon on creating a bigger kitchen area – making more room for our outside catering. We will also have another small counter area with around 10 extra lower level seats for our customers.”

The expansion coincides with celebrating the first decade of the Towne family’s popular venue in Ruddington. Jessica adds: “On behalf of Philo’s we would like to thank all of our local customers and businesses for their support over the last 10 years. We really appreciate you and we look forward to exciting new times ahead!”

Secondly, the vacant shop unit at 6, High Street (above) – which used to be home to Barclay’s Bank but has remained empty for TWO AND A HALF YEARS – is soon to be the new branch of an established local solicitor.

Ives & Co was founded in Plumtree in 1986 by Vivienne Ives before being taken over by Ruth Stevenson and Paul Thomas in 2010. Their head office will remain there, in addition to these new Ruddington premises. Ruth told RUDDINGTON.info: “We are a traditional firm who hold the values of our clients dearly. Having been in Plumtree personally since 2010 we feel there is still a need, more than ever, for a high street practice in areas surrounding Nottingham City Centre, and we feel with our traditional values we can offer this in Ruddington. We see Ruddington as up and coming – and we hope that we can flourish with it.”

Ives & Co offer conveyancing, wills and probate, trust work and commercial conveyancing. Four staff will work at the Ruddington office – solicitor Ruth, trainee solicitor Liz, and paralegals Julie and Linda. They hope the new premises will be ready to open here officially by the 23rd April. “We are so keen to come to Ruddington” says Ruth. “It’s such a lovely village.”
