If you’ve wandered along Ruddington’s High Street recently and wondered what on earth has happened to Grange Bakery (the old Horspool’s village centre shop) then don’t panic. Following the recent trend for our businesses to move around the corner – it’s moved just around the corner!
In fairness, the big sign in the window at the former bakery and the smart new frontage at Grange News should really have given this away to you. Since the 6th of February the two “Grange” outlets have begun trading under the same roof at 4-6 Church Street – now known as “Grange Retail”. It was decided that this double width unit was big enough to accommodate both shops as well as having the advantage of TWO kitchens and a larger waiting area for customers.
Now there are plans to extend the range of baked goods and hot food items available – with a new range of specialist coffees coming soon. The newsagents is just a little more compact – catering for the dwindling number of us who still buy newspapers and magazines. And, of course, they still offer both their food and paper delivery services, too.
One downside to all this is that there’s now another empty shop unit on High Street. Currently we have FOUR (above)! But history tells us they don’t usually remain unoccupied for too long…
