Ruddington Library Reopens

After almost four months of being shut due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, as UK Government restrictions continue to be eased, Ruddington Library is reopening its doors this week. The sudden closure on March 21st not only halted its loans and reference services but also caused the cancellation of special events, such as Henry Normal‘s planned appearance, and halted numerous village classes and group sessions which usually happen in the building on a monthly basis. Rushcliffe Police say Saturday’s easing of ‘lockdown’ restrictions – meaning Ruddington’s numerous pubs and other hospitality venues could reopen their premises – did not create any major issues for its officers. NCT is “Good to Go!”

Ruddington’s main bus operator has achieved Visit Britain’s official industry standard, which confirms it’s following industry and Government guidance on COVID-19, ‘social distancing’ and cleanliness. Nottingham City Transport (NCT) runs our village’s frequent and friendly Navy 3 and Green 10 services – which returned to a full timetable on June 28th – and has now officially been awarded “Good to Go!” status. Village Market on The Green Hailed a Huge Success

This weekend Ruddington Village Market returned after a four month physical absence, and it was a huge success – with organisers, traders and visitors doing an outstanding job of relaunching as a ‘socially distanced’ market in its new location on the village green. At 9am everyone was ready to go, and queues started forming at some of the most missed and hotly anticipated stands. When the Government instructed us to ‘Stay at Home’ to ‘Save Lives’ and ‘Protect the NHS’ at the start of the Coronavirus ‘lockdown’ in March, bus operators quickly put their services on a much reduced ‘core’ timetable – with public transport being deemed for ‘essential travel’ only. Car Parking Charges Return at Country Park

After six weeks of visitors being able to enjoy FREE parking since the partial reopening of Ruddington’s country park facilities to visitors, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has announced its charges will resume soon. With the further, recent Government easing of COVID-19 Coronavirus restrictions, from Monday June 29th, the pay-and-display rate of £1 per day will be reintroduced – allowing a maximum 8 hour stay. Facial Coverings on Public Transport Become Compulsory

Monday 15th June 2020 is the date when a further easing of the Government’s COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ restrictions means non-essential shops in Ruddington are permitted to reopen. However, it’s also the day that wearing a facial covering becomes mandatory on all public transport – including Ruddington’s Green 10 (and soon the Navy 3) buses run by Nottingham City Transport.
