Village motorists are being warned to expect further hold-ups and disruption in the coming weeks; both as contractors carry out various highway works and festive events begin in Ruddington. Back in March we reported the announcement by Ruddington’s main bus operator that its entire fleet of 78 single decker buses will be fully electrified from 2023. This includes replacing the three diesel-powered Navy 3 branded ‘Optare Solo’ buses which Nottingham City Transport (NCT) currently uses for its Nottingham to Clifton route via Ruddington. Drivers in and out of Ruddington have again found themselves stuck in queues due to further roadworks which have sprung up unexpectedly today on Clifton Lane. It’s after another gas escape was detected on the bridge over Fairham Brook. Workers from Cadent are back onsite today (10th October) – attempting to trace and repair this latest leak – just a month since the last one. Two circular bus routes through our village, which provide Ruddington’s only direct connection with Morrisons at Gamston, Wheatcroft Garden Centre, the Central Avenue Shops in West Bridgford and NTU’s Clifton campus, are being withdrawn permanently next month. Ruddington Bus Fares Rising this Weekend

Our main village bus operator has announced today that it’s putting up all fares from this Sunday in response to what it calls “significantly increased operating costs”. Nottingham City Transport (NCT), which runs our Navy 3 and Green 10 services, is blaming fuel and staffing costs being much higher than at the start of the year. Ruddington’s main bus operator has announced that its entire fleet of single decker buses will be fully electrified from next year. This includes replacing the three diesel-powered Navy 3 branded Optare Solo buses which Nottingham City Transport uses for its Nottingham to Clifton route via Ruddington. Ruddington bus passengers are welcoming the news that the services from our main village operator will revert to their previous levels later this month. Nottingham City Transport (NCT) cut back its operations on January 10th citing the rising number of Coronavirus cases and a shortage of bus drivers. Ruddington’s main public transport operator is citing the rising number of Coronavirus cases and a shortage of bus drivers for its decision to reduce the number of services it will run early in the new year.
