Ready For Ruddfest?

Ruddington’s annual Beer & Cider Festival makes a welcome return this week.

“Ruddfest 2019” begins at midday on Thursday 30th May and runs from noon each day until Sunday 2nd June, with a full programme of events and activities taking place on The Green, at The White Horse Inn and at The Frame Breakers. The Victoria Tavern on Wilford Road will also be taking part by offering a wider selection of beers and ciders than usual – though there won’t be an outdoor bar this year. Even Ruddington’s new off-licence The Bottle Top will be joining in this time.

On The Green, festival-goers can enjoy more than 200 beers and ciders as well as 25 gins, prosecco and a range of wines. Find the full list >>HERE<<. For the real ales and ciders there’s a CAMRA member discount of 10 per pint and 5p per half pint. All these can be soaked up by food from various stalls including hot dogs, Italian food from Gino’s Ristorante, Indian delights from The Three Spices and wood-fired pizzas from Ape About Pizza. There’ll also be music, live entertainment, family fun and games and kids’ activities. For extra comfort, there’ll be double the amount of toilets provided last year and more tables and chairs. Two extra-large framed marquees will provide shelter from any rain – or the sun!?

At The White Horse it’s “Ruddstock” featuring live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday along with ales, ciders cocktails, wine and prosecco over four bars – in addition to this Church Street pub being the venue for Ruddington Village Market on the Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, The Frame Breakers on High Street hosts the “Ruddfest Fringe” offering more live entertainment and extra drinks in the pub and car park across the weekend. There’ll be extra seating and marquees outside, with around 40 cask ales and traditional and fruit ciders on offer, as well as German biers and British craft beers on draught and the return of the popular gin and rum bar. The vintage Pilsner Urquell truck will also be back!

Over all 4 days The Bottle Top on High Street will be operating as a micro bar serving beer on tap and also by can and bottle. They will be serving beer from 12pm each day and closing at 9pm. The shop will still operate as usual during hours before from 9am and throughout the beer service. They will have two different beers each day on tap – but when it’s gone it’s gone!

Organisers have again produced a handy map to help you find your way around:

With warm weather forecast, it’s hoped villagers and visitors will enjoy everything “Ruddfest 2019” has to offer and that the annual Ruddington event will be another huge success. But you are urged to drink responsibly – and remember Nottingham City Transport‘s Navy 3* or Green 10 buses are a great way of getting you there and back so no one has to drive!

*Please note that NCT’s Navy 3 no longer runs in the evenings nor on Sundays.
