Pram Theft Among Latest Ruddington Crimes!

One of the most bizarre crimes revealed in Ruddington during the past month was a pram stolen from just outside a resident’s house. On the 27th of November, Cat Pickup reported the unusual theft from her property on Churchill Drive via social media.

She said: “It was outside my door. He would’ve had to walk down my drive to get it! The more I think about it, the sadder I am about the whole situation and the more I want it back.” Unfortunately, despite Cat posting an image of the stolen pram {top} and an appeal on Facebook, the property still hasn’t been recovered – and so the Ruddington mum has had to borrow one from a friend for now.

November was otherwise a “quiet” month for Ruddington crimes reported to Rushcliffe Police, who’ve just released the day by day statistics below:

3rd              Tongue Way  – Criminal damage to a window

4th              Loughborough Road – Theft of fuel from Service Station

6th              Loughborough Road – Theft of fuel from Service Station

10th            Clifton Lane  – Criminal damage to a dwelling window

10th            Loughborough Road – Driving offence – drink driver

12th            Tongue way  – Assault – offender arrested

18th            Church Street – Burglary at shop – Offender identified

23rd           Old Road – Burglary – Dwelling TV stolen from garden room

23rd           Packman Drive – Theft from motor van – window broken tools stolen

24th            Loughborough Road- Theft of fuel from Service Station

25th            Roe Gardens – Theft of bike from shed (two week period)

28th            Loughborough Road – Theft of fuel from Service Station

You’ll note a THIRD of these offences were motorists driving off from Loughborough Road filling station without paying for their fuel – a crime which local officers have pointed out could be eradicated overnight if only a prepayment system was introduced there.

Now, PCSO Kathy Lucock is warning residents that Rushcliffe Police are starting to see a general increase in burglaries in rural areas leading up to Christmas. Several other villages have also seen distraction thefts by two young females (described as early twenties white with long brown hair tied up in a ponytail, and possibly of Eastern European origin) with a clipboard. They ask elderly residents for their signature relating to either a new health centre petition or for children’s charities. Ruddington folk are warned to be on the lookout too – and to make elderly householders aware.

Meantime, if you have any information about the pram theft or any of the crimes listed above – or have spotted someone acting suspiciously – you’re asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101. Or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You should dial 999 only in an emergency – if you see a crime actually taking place.
