Parish Council will Object to Asher Lane Housing Plan

Ruddington residents are being reminded there’s now just a week left to comment on a revised outline planning application to build a major new housing development off Asher Lane.

The scheme for 175 new dwellings on greenbelt land between Ruddington and the Country Park has again been lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd following their withdrawal last year of a similar application – but for up to 250 houses.

ALL the official documents relating to this application can be found >>HERE<<.

You can read the background to this story and details of arguments for and against it >>HERE<<.

Villagers packed a meeting hastily organised by Ruddington Parish Council in St Peter’s Rooms last night to hear more about the application and to voice their opinions. The RPC meeting documents are downloadable >>HERE<<. After a short presentation by Parish Clerk Gary Long there was a motion for adjournment where a handful of residents spoke out against the application and none in favour. Both Ruddington Action Group and the Parish Council had made forms available for people to fill in to send in to Rushcliffe Borough Council if they wished to object.

Following the motion for adjournment there was no opportunity given for a public show of hands for or against, but several parish councillors also spoke out against the plans. A vote was then taken in which they unanimously agreed as a Parish Council to object to this housing application.

Meantime you’re reminded that the only way your comments will be taken into consideration by planners is if you make them directly to Rushcliffe Borough Council by post or via their planning website >>HERE<<.

REMEMBER, the public consultation deadline is NEXT WEDNESDAY the 1st of February 2017.
