Over the years, the Ruddington community have provided incredible support for the NG11 Foodbank, with gifts of food and toiletries made to donation points across the village.
In the last year alone, for example, Co-op shoppers donated almost 2000kg of food; the children of James Peacock School collected nearly 200kg for their Harvest Festival; and recently, Sainsbury’s have been donating their surplus fresh and baked produce for next-day distribution. Thanks to this amazing generosity, the Foodbank was able to help 1,427 people in the NG11 area in the last 12 months alone.
But did you know that NG11 Foodbank supports the residents of Ruddington too? A recent YouGov survey showed that over 8 million people in the UK couldn’t pay their rent or mortgage from their savings for more than one month. NG11 Foodbank statistics show that many clients in the area continue to be affected by insecure employment, low wages, benefit changes, and the rising cost of living.
