Ruddingtonians awoke to another blanket of snow this morning – as the effects of the so-called “Beast from the East #2” were felt across the area.
Early casualties were yesterday’s Ruddington Village FC fixture against Awsworth Villa FC at Elms Park and today’s Stroke Association ‘Resolution Run’ at Rushcliffe Country Park – both of which were postponed yesterday, anticipating the icy conditions. Then this morning’s Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun was cancelled due to the snow and ice.
Despite this, roads around our village have remained largely open and passable with care thanks to Nottinghamshire County Council‘s gritters – although resident Jenny Clarke reported getting stuck on Flawforth Lane at 9am today! Nottingham City Transport has also maintained a near normal Sunday service on its Navy 3 and Green 10/10C buses – with just a small diversion last night and first thing thing this morning for the latter along Loughborough Road, rather than navigating some icy estate streets. For our village youngsters it just means another exciting day of wrapping up warmly to build a snowman and go sledging!
As always, we encourage you to share NEW, snowy Ruddington pictures with us via Twitter or Facebook please. If we get enough photos from you we’ll post them below later. Meantime here are a few shots from LAST time – when “Beast from the East #1” struck Ruddington…
