Laura’s Leap for Ruddington School

An intrepid Ruddington mum is jumping out of a plane this summer – in a tandem skydive to help raise funds for a village charity close to her heart.

Laura Ratcliffe is not only the founder of Ruddington Mums but also now the Chair of The Friends of St Peter’s Junior School – the group she has chosen to receive the cash. As she reaches three quarters of the way towards her £1000 fundraising target, she’s hoping RUDDINGTON.info readers can provide a final boost to get her there.

“For my Dad’s 80th birthday he wants to jump out of a plane – his first time” explains Laura. “I can’t think of anyone else I would rather do this with – for my first time, too! What a memory for me to hold forever of one of the best role models to ever walk this planet. My grown up nephew Tom will also be joining us, so a proper dare devil family affair, we have to top the family bravery kudos, surely??”

Laura is self-funding the cost of the parachute jump so all donations are going directly to ‘The Friends’. Weather permitting, the trio’s skydive is planned for Saturday August 5th 2023 at Chatteris Airfield.

“The Friends of St Peter’s Junior School have big plans to revitalise and future-proof the outdoor area for many more children to enjoy and I hope that this crazy idea will kickstart this project” says Laura. “I want to fundraise to make a difference for as many families as possible in Ruddington”.

She adds: “It feels right that this is the charity of my choice, one that I have really enjoyed to have been actively involved with for the last ten years. I feel a strong bond with St Peter’s School, as it has helped us to raise and nurture all three of our girls, and every kid that has been through its doors.”
