‘Fork Handles’ Gets Connected

A small but state-of-the-art new property development in Ruddington will again be the cause of some good old-fashioned roadworks this week – as the site gets reconnected to the mains gas supply!

The crumbling, former Bostock’s DIY shop at 70, Wilford Road, which closed in 2015, was bought by Ruddington’s Mascari Design Solutions Ltd and demolished two years’ ago to make way for two contemporary homes on the land – to be called ‘Fork Handles’ and ‘The Yard’ in tribute to their heritage. Since then a rather lengthy spell of construction work has been taking place – upon which RUDDINGTON.info last reported in January.

Rob Mascari

Rob Mascari, who has personally overseen every stage of his family’s project in conjunction with Justin Smith Architects of Derby, muses: “As you can imagine, being a Grand Designs superfan, I set myself three rules that would not be broken…

  1. Stick to the budget
  2. Stick to the timescales
  3. Start a family AFTER moving in!

Needless to say, we’ve failed spectacularly on all three counts!” jokes Rob. Oh well. Thankfully, the external works are all but concluded and we can soon move on to areas we are much more familiar with… kitchens and bathrooms!”

Meantime, this week’s work involves the closure of St John’s Road along its entire length from 8.00am on Monday 9th December until 6.00pm Friday 13th December 2019 for Cadent to provide a new gas main to the development site. There will be a temporary prohibition of driving but resident access will be maintained. For everyone else the diversionary route via St Mary’s Crescent, Easthorpe Street and Wilford Road (and vice versa) is shown below.

Rob adds: “Apologies to residents once again for the inconvenience, although there may be a couple more road closures early next year – I’m not sure why the utility companies can’t do these things in one hit!”

We’ll bring you further updates about these brand new properties during 2020 here at RUDDINGTON.info.
