October Village Market
Our popular monthly market promises a super shopping experience with a great variety of stallholders on The Green and a chance to visit our local shops and retailers, too.
This month’s Ruddington Village Market on Saturday 1st October is again scheduled to have over seventy traders on The Green from 9.00am until 12.30pm.
The full list of this month’s visiting retailers – with their corresponding stall numbers on the map – is shown below.
The monthly market is a project of the award winning Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP). The market has grown in many ways: initiatives include a Young Entrepreneurs’ Programme (to mentor 16 to 30 year olds into market stall businesses) a partnership with the Trent Bridge Trust’s YouNG Project (to offer under 16s the chance to trade), an electrical repair service in tandem with Illumination Repairs CIC. But please note Illumination Repairs won’t be at October’s market.
A reminder, locals can ask about the village by visiting Ruddington Parish Council‘s tent. Councillors welcome your ideas or concerns for the local area, and can tell you more about what’s coming up in Ruddington.
Debuting at the Village Market is NG11 Food Bank – marking 10 years of serving families in need. You can find out about their service and you may like to take along donations of cash or some items they are short of; juice, toilet rolls and tinned products e.g. soup, meat, tomatoes, sweetcorn, coffee, custard, jam.
This month’s RVCP’s ‘Charity of the Month’ will be two good causes, say the market organisers:
“(stall 48) Improving Lives Notts raise awareness and much-needed funds for people living with mental health issues and (stall 57) Trent Bridge Community Trust who will be back with their curated and handmade wares, including keyrings, candles and bathbombs to name but a few. This community initiative gives the wonderful young people manning the stall a chance to experience running a small business first-hand and they do a spectacular job every time!”
‘Live’ music will be provided by The Rock Choir. Listen to them on Saturday and find out more about a free taster session and membership as ‘there’s no need to read music or audition and no experience is needed‘ to join this group.
The White Horse on Church Street – the Village Market’s original venue – is also staging its usual smaller market on the same date – running from 9.00am to 11.30am.
There is some extra parking available, as shown below. However, market days are very busy in Ruddington, so residents are encouraged to walk into the village if they can, since spaces are rather limited in the centre.
For visitors, there’s a new NCT discounted Market Day travel ticket if you come to Ruddington by bus. Village Market organisers say: “We’re super excited to be partnering with Nottingham City Transport to offer 15% off adult and Grouprider tickets on Market Days >>See HERE<<. All people need to do is scroll down to the NCT Partners category in the Mobile Tickets section of the NCTX Buses app, choose your ticket, enter discount code RUDDMARKET, and you’re good to go!”
