U3A is short for The University of the Third Age – set up for retired and semi-retired people to share learning, fun and friendship by suggesting and arranging locally based interest groups.

The Ruddington & District Branch was formed in 2018.

Meetings on the third Monday afternoon of each month consist of a speaker, interest group updates and refreshments:-

John Whitfield – ‘The Kennedys’

Howard Broughton – ‘Preservation of Barn Owls’

April 15th
‘Bess of Hardwick’ by Rosemary Gibson

May 20th
‘The Story of Lavender’ by Graham Hayes

June 17th
‘Lowdham Grange and the Prison Service’ by Geoff Parkinson.

July 15th
Bob Massey talks about ‘Nottingham on Sea’ – a sketch history of the town of Skegness from its earliest beginnings.

19th August
Carol Williams – “Ancestors, Dragons & Chopsticks”

16th September
Speaker TBC – “Green’s Mill”

21st October
Bob Reed – “We need to talk about toilets”

18th November
Lesley Taylor – “Lesley talks Rubbish”

16th December
John Todd – “Problems of the N.H.S.”

Each meeting also gives time for notices, reports, discussion, questions and socialising. Please take your membership card.
