Father Christmas will be visiting our village again this year, thanks to the ‘Rotary Club of Rushcliffe’. This is now the name of our local branch after the West Bridgford, Ruddington and Keyworth groups merged last year.
Santa and his sleigh have become popular annual fixtures in the village, touring our streets and estates each December to get everyone in the spirit and to raise money for Rotary charities home and abroad. This year the chosen local charities are Dove Hospice and the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. Aside from a little sleigh maintenance each year, every penny collected goes straight to those good causes.
As always, Old Saint Nick will be joined by his little helpers, with volunteers from Ruddington Colts FC and the Friends of James Peacock helping to spread festive cheer around the village. With seasonal tunes aplenty, Santa’s visits are great fun for the children, so please show our local Rotary Club your support and give generously if you can.
Here are this year’s dates and places:
Wednesday 11th December
Churchill Drive estate, Old Station Road and Pasture Lane estate
Thursday 12th December
Camelot Street, Clifton Road, Packman Drive and Rufford Road
Tuesday 17th December
Musters Road, Barleylands and Elms Park
All visits will take place in the evening between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
SANTA CLAUS SPOTTING TIPS:
- Look for the man in the red suit with the white beard. That’s Santa!
- If you have double glazing, be sure to open a window just a little so you can hear Santa coming.
- He has lots of boys and girls to see and will be travelling quickly. Be sure to be ready and wave.
