Ruddington Gardeners’ Association (RGA) was originally established in 1934 to promote and encourage the interests and activities of all those who enjoy gardening. Whether you already have an allotment, a garden at home or a simple window box, the Association hopes it has something of interest to offer you.

The RGA Open Horticultural Show is free to enter and will have plants for sale and refreshments available, too.

Dave Russell of RGA says: “This is a show for everyone in Ruddington, whether you’re aged 5 years or 99 years! You don’t even need to have a garden to enter. Just bring your favourite house plant, a single flower or vegetable you’ve grown, a photo you’ve taken, a cake you’ve made…and so much more! Entry to all the classes is free.

“There’ll be fabulous prizes for the kids’ classes (every child gets a prize), plus refreshments from the WI and stalls run by the Bee Keepers and Country Markets. You can also enjoy demonstrations and sales of plants, fruit and veg.”

As well as 37 gardening categories there are sections for baking and photography, too. Take your entries to St Peter’s Rooms on Saturday 14th September between 8am and 9.30am, after which, judging will take place. The show will then be open to the public from 11am to 4pm.

Dave adds: “It’ll be great to see you on 14th September, but better still to see your entries as well. Please come along and make our 2019 show another resounding success.”

You can get your entry forms and a full show schedule from or pick them up from St Peter’s Rooms. You can also get them from Mike Davey by emailing (‘phone 0115 9841687).
