Ruddington’s Roads Resurfaced

The yellow signs are up heralding the long-awaited road repairs which are desperately needed throughout a couple of our village housing estates.

Soon cars and bikes will no longer have to negotiate their way around muddy potholes – once Micro Asphalt resurfacing works have been carried out by Via East Midlands on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council. However local residents will have to plan for their road to be closed, with no parking allowed, between 7.30am and 5.00pm on at least one weekday this month.

The latest schedule shows another delay to Brookside Road/Camelot Street resurfacing and repairs as follows:-

    • Elms Gardens – Wednesday 14.03.2018
    • Dunblane Road – Wednesday 14.03.2018 & Thursday 15.03.18
    • Leys Road – Thursday 15.03.18
    • Sheepfold Lane – Thursday 15.03.18
    • Fairham Close – Friday 16.03.2018
    • Grange Avenue – Friday 16.03.2018
    • Brookside Gardens – Friday 16.03.2018
    • Shelton Gardens – Friday 16.03.2018
    • Templeman Close – Friday 16.03.2018
    • Brookside Road – Monday 19.03.2018
    • Camelot Street – Monday 19.03.2018 (pothole repairs only for now)

There have been particular concerns about the condition of Camelot Street – after a continual pounding for the last few months from heavy lorries heading to and from the ’Lace Gardens’ construction site.

Peter Topliss from Via East Midlands has confirmed that full resurfacing of this stretch will now not take place until all the house building and demolition work has been completed – although temporary road repairs to fill in the many potholes on Camelot Street will be carried out.

For the rest of the estate roads he advises: “The work will be carried out using temporary road closures with pedestrian access available at all times. This is to comply with the current Health & Safety legislation, to protect the public and our own workforce. Due to the nature of the works vehicle access to properties will be unavailable at certain periods within the works area as shown on the plan, until the Micro Asphalting works are completed.”

He continues: “Please could I ask for your cooperation and refrain from parking on the roads being resurfaced on the day of Micro Asphalting or as advertised on the advanced warning boards on site. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, however we would also like to ask for your patience and co-operation whilst the works are in progress and we would like to assure you that every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.”

If you have any special circumstances they should know about – such as disabled access, health visits, or urgent deliveries/collections – you’re asked to call Peter Topliss as soon as possible on 0115 804 2146 or e-mail peter.topliss@viaem.co.uk.

Additionally, in our village centre, Charles Street and Parkyns Street are in line for pothole repairs – although not full resurfacing.
