Ruddington Christmas Lights Trail

In the midst of a second Coronavirus ‘lockdown’ it does seem many villagers are putting up their Christmas decorations rather early this year. If you’ve already trimmed up around the outside of your house – or plan to do so quite soon – The Friends of James Peacock School would love to hear from you right now!

They’re calling on all residents who wish to get into the festive spirit to take part in the ‘Ruddington Christmas Lights Trail’. Sarah Beardsley says: “Friends of James Peacock School would like to make the most of the Christmas period to bring a bit of festive cheer to the whole community, all in a COVID-19 secure way! We want to make a trail of Christmas lights right across the village, with illuminated Christmas trees, decorated front gardens and windows, flashing Santas, snowmen and winter wildlife – the brighter the better! We would love your garden to be part of the trail and help to brighten up the village!”

If you live in Ruddington, you are able to illuminate your garden from December 7th until New Year’s Eve, and you are happy for your address to appear on the trail map, they say it’s really easy to get involved. You simply need to complete the short form at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NPLF2XK. It also lets organisers know what your garden/window will be decorated with so that they can add a simple question for children to complete on their trail answer sheet, as they seek out the illuminated homes with their parents or guardians.

However, please note the deadline to submit your house for the trail is this Friday, the 27th of November, so please do it without delay!

Once the ‘Ruddington Christmas Lights Trail Map’ is produced, participants will be able to collect  a copy from The Bottle Top on High Street – or request a map by email from fjp.committee@yahoo.co.uk. When it’s completed a small gift for children will be available back at the Bottle Top in exchange for finished forms plus a small donation requested to the Friends of James Peacock School.

Sarah adds: “We would love for you to let us bring a bit of festive cheer, sparkle and fun to the village in what has been a tough year!”
