An imaginative volunteering idea has been unveiled by a Ruddington tourist attraction aiming to get all generations involved at its village centre heritage site. The Framework Knitters’ Museum on Chapel Street has launched a campaign to find two ‘green fingered’ families over the summer holidays. Ruddington’s First Rapid Chargers

It’s been rather a long time coming, but our village is now offering rapid charging provision for use by the ever-increasing number of residents and visitors with electric vehicles (EVs). Two EV charging points have just been installed at the entrance to Rushcliffe Country Park, operating on the national BP Pulse network. These units offer up to 50kW charging speeds which, for a small car like the MINI Electric (pictured) means charging up from 20% to 80% will take only around 20 minutes. With just a fortnight left before we go to the polls on 4th May 2023, all the candidates standing for election here in Ruddington have now been revealed. Once again, villagers will not be asked to vote for any Ruddington Parish Councillors since, disappointingly, only 13 residents put themselves forward for the 16 available seats. These Councillors have already been ‘duly elected’ by the Returning Officer, without a contest. Historic Hedgerow Ripped Out “in Error”

The house-builder currently constructing 175 new properties on former Ruddington Green Belt south of Musters Road says a contractor removed a large section of mature hedgerow there by mistake. Gardeners from ‘Buttercup Allotments’ off Asher Lane were alerted to the totally unexpected loss of their boundary hedge when a contractor working for Avant Homes suddenly starting digging it out on Maundy Thursday. Ruddington’s New Parkrun Life-Saver

Organisers of the weekly parkruns in Rushcliffe Country Park have taken delivery of a crucial piece of life-saving equipment – a defibrillator – which its own community stumped up the necessary funds for within a day! A social media appeal on March 30th raised the £816 required for the new, portable unit in less than half a day. Park Play Area Reopens for Easter

Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park have confirmed that vital maintenance work at their large children’s play area has been completed on schedule. That means the popular Ruddington children’s facility is now back open for villagers and visitors alike, in time for Easter, having been shut for an overhaul and safety checks during March. Tree-mendous Job, Ruddington!

TODAY (Friday 31st March 2023) was the extended deadline by which tree planting must be registered to be included in ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ (QGC) as a legacy to Her Majesty. Ruddington has seen numerous local companies, groups and individuals get involved with this national initiative. A group of eco-minded Ruddington residents is expressing its dismay and disbelief that a major housing developer suddenly changed its mind about allowing them to plant a long row of trees on its land – and didn’t even tell them! As the extended deadline for planting trees to be part of ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ (QGC) draws near, a community voluntary group has revealed it’s about to put in what it believes will be the longest row of trees in our village so far in memory of Her Majesty.
