Goodbye Ruddington Vets
After 28 years serving Ruddington’s pet owners, it’s been revealed that our much loved veterinary practice is leaving the village. The news was first announced on Ruddington Vets Facebook page last week, in a post which read: “Check out our spacious new site!”. It went on to explain that: “This Autumn, we will be growing our practice.” To achieve this, they will be moving it around two miles away – to new premises over in Clifton. They do not plan to retain any veterinary facilities at the Shaw Street site in Ruddington (pictured…

By the end of 2023, the full Artex HGV fleet will run on hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO). The Artex team, based on Pasture Lane here in Ruddington, have been running a trial on HVO throughout 2022, with five of their vehicles, and are delighted with the carbon reductions they’ve seen as a result of the trial. It’s been so successful that they are now working to transition to HVO across their whole…
Read MoreRuddington’s Seaside Yarn Bomb!
This latest burst of creative, knitted activity has just hit our village centre for the summer – courtesy of the now infamous ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’. Following a similar ‘Yarn Bomb’ at Christmas, one or two changing pillar box toppers outside the Co-op before and after that (marking topical events such as Remembrance Day) and then a very impressive ‘Platinum Jubilee Yarn Bomb’ – where the knitters really pulled out all the stops – this new one’s called ‘Ruddington on Sea’. A ‘Ninjas’ spokesperson tells us: “This is to bring some summer fun for…

With various schemes available for residents and groups to carry out tree planting in both public and private spaces, usually with the trees provided for free, Ruddington nature lover Geoff East is highlighting the fact that we can’t just stop there! “Saplings and young trees need to be watered during the drought conditions we are experiencing” advises…

Read MoreOn The Verge of Paradise
Ruddingtonians who have a reason to walk via the private, gravel road between Clifton Road and Fairham Close will almost certainly have spotted a slightly odd L-shaped patch of previously overgrown land on the corner, just outside the western gates of ‘Paradise Gardens’ Allotments. Its custodians are Ruddington Parish Council, which also owns and manages the allotments but, due to a restrictive covenant, has found it quite difficult to know what to actually ‘do’ with this relatively small, extra ‘green’ area. A fence erected recently was removed hastily when it…
