Organisers of Ruddington’s free weekly run for 4 to 14 year-olds have revealed they’ll be joined by two very special guests this autumn. As part of BBC Children in Need, Pudsey Bear and celebrity body-coach Joe Wicks will be taking part in four UK Parkruns in November – including Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun in our country park at 9am on Sunday 13th November 2022. After 28 years serving Ruddington’s pet owners, it’s been revealed that our much loved veterinary practice is leaving the village. The news was first announced on Ruddington Vets Facebook page last week, in a post which read: “Check out our spacious new site!”. Whilst construction continues apace on Bloor Homes’ 167 property ‘Fairham Green’ development, residents in the Grange Farm area have discovered the house-builder is already eyeing up its next Green Belt site further along Wilford Road. Questions were asked when surveyors from Greenhatch Contractors appeared outside ‘Ruddington Day Nursery’ today {Tuesday 16th August} and began taking measurements along that stretch of the B680 into the village. All Artex Lorries to be Powered by Vegetable Oil

By the end of 2023, the full Artex HGV fleet will run on hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO). HVO is a biofuel that originates from vegetable oils and reduces carbon emissions by 90% compared to diesel. The Artex team, based on Pasture Lane here in Ruddington, have been running a trial on HVO throughout 2022, with five of their vehicles, and are delighted with the carbon reductions they’ve seen as a result of the trial. On The Verge of Paradise

Ruddingtonians who have a reason to walk via the private, gravel road between Clifton Road and Fairham Close will almost certainly have spotted a slightly odd L-shaped patch of previously overgrown land on the corner, just outside the western gates of ‘Paradise Gardens’ Allotments. Its custodians are Ruddington Parish Council, which also owns and manages the allotments but, due to a restrictive covenant, has found it quite difficult to know what to actually ‘do’ with this relatively small, extra ‘green’ area.
