A call is going out to amateur ‘arts and crafters’ who may be keen to form an active ‘Art & Craft Society’ in our village.
It’s an initiative being led by Ruddington resident Chris Marriott. He’s currently testing the water to see if those engaged in what can often be a rather solitary occupation might like to become more sociable – and also be able to showcase their work more effectively.
Chris says: “We would meet once a month to discuss our interests and my intention would be to present a local Arts Festival in Ruddington. We are all amateur artists and, if you are wanting to get involved, that would be smashing.”
The gallery at the Framework Knitters’ Museum Old Chapel (pictured top) has already become a well known exhibition space where local artists often display their work. The idea of a new village society has come about through conversations with The Ruddington Village Centre Partnership over the summer. It’s after Chris had some of his own original artwork on display and up for sale inside The White Horse Inn as one of the craft stall holders attending the monthly Ruddington Village Market.
If you’re interested, the first step is to get in touch with Chris – ideally with some samples of your work – via thedesign4@googlemail.com. If enough people come forward then an initial meeting will be arranged.
