A Ruddington based entrepreneur is putting her embroidery skills to good use with a new venture that creates personalised gifts and garments for both individuals and local businesses.
Add Embroidery & Print has been set up by Ann Dunstan in premises at Brookside House on Brookside Road – using state-of-the-art computer controlled machinery that will embroider or print more or less whatever you like in a matter of minutes!
Ann started in the machining industry straight from school – and spent time working at both Beeva Garments and Cooper & Rowe in the village before going into the catering industry at a time when much clothing manufacturing was being moved abroad. She ran a café and catering vans for a while before returning to her first love around five years ago. She told RUDDINGTON.info: “I’d never operated one of these embroidery machines but I bought one and taught myself how to use it.” Now her new Ruddington unit is giving her more space to operate. “This Feiying machine’s a four head – so I can do four garments at a time. It’s got nine needles so you can use a design that needs up to nine different colours – large or small. We do workwear for businesses, clothing for dance schools, personalised gifts for family and friends like towels blankets… anything really. And with Christmas coming up I’m making Santa sacks and Christmas stockings. If it’s something that can’t be embroidered then most of the time it CAN be printed – which we can do, as well.”
Ann says that they can embroider an existing design or logo – or help customers come up with something brand new. “Some people do know exactly what they want whilst some might need a bit of help and advice. We’re based here in Ruddington so people can just pop in. And we do a local collection service. I hope people will give us a try!”
