SUMMARY:Wildlife Watch Group for Kids
DESCRIPTION:Come and help to refurbish the Michelin 5-star Bug Hotel – a luxury place for any snail or slug to live in at Rushcliffe Country Park! This is a fun, outdoor event for children aged between 8 and 12, from the village and beyond, to get involved with for a couple of hours.\n\nIt is run by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust: “This session is all about the renovation of our Bug Hotel, which needs some tender loving care. In addition to helping all the invertebrates in the park, we thought it would be a great idea to add a hedgehog annex, (which incidentally, is something you could all add to your gardens if you don’t already have one) – a bit like a hedgehog bed and breakfast hot spot.”\nParents or guardians can help, too, by bringing any materials along to ensure “bugs get 5☆ accommodation. We need things like cut-off bamboo, hay and straw, drinking straws, pipes, bricks, bits of wood, roof tiles, twigs and anything else you think might be useful.”\nLeader Geoff East from the Trust says: “Watch groups are like a wild club for kids, packed full of wildlife activities and aimed at 8 to 12 year-olds, though we can take under 8-year-olds if accompanied by an adult. We arrange great activities like building a minibeast hotel, fungi hunt, pond dipping, den building and much more. The group is led by the activities the children want to complete, including lots of time spent outdoors meaning a fun, creative and enthusiastic learning experience! Please come dressed for the weather!” You can read more >>HERE<<. \nThe Rushcliffe Wildlife Watch group meets monthly at 11am usually at our Country Park on the second Saturday, outside the Education Centre by the lake. Members and non-members are welcome; pay £3 on entry.\n\n\nDisclaimer: RUDDINGTON.info publish all diary events in good faith and can’t be held responsible for any changes or cancellations of the activity. We run our calendar as a community service and details were correct at the time we promoted them, so advise you to contact the organiser before attending. Thanks.\n
