The Governors at James Peacock Infant and Nursery School in Manor Park have revealed their new Head Teacher – and it’s the woman who’s already been taking care of the job for the past nine months. Ruddingtonians who have a reason to walk via the private, gravel road between Clifton Road and Fairham Close will almost certainly have spotted a slightly odd L-shaped patch of previously overgrown land on the corner, just outside the western gates of ‘Paradise Gardens’ Allotments. Its custodians are Ruddington Parish Council, which also owns and manages the allotments but, due to a restrictive covenant, has found it quite difficult to know what to actually ‘do’ with this relatively small, extra ‘green’ area. Emergency Roadworks Update

It’s been revealed that two unexpected sets of roadworks which began yesterday on major routes through Ruddington could last all week. Firstly, VIA East Midlands has issued an update about the emergency work on Clifton Road by Cadent Gas which is requiring the use of four-way temporary traffic lights at the roundabout with Pasture Lane/North Road/Clifton Lane and has already been causing delays for drivers – especially at peak times. It began after another gas leak was discovered in the carriageway – the second one along that stretch in just four months.…

Residents’ Concerns Over Second Planning Breach

Villagers living close to the ‘Wilbur Chase’ housing development in Ruddington say they’re very concerned that the property builder could soon be allowed to get away with another serious infringement of its planning conditions for the new estate. Avant Homes (Midlands) is currently constructing 175 new houses on our former Green Belt, south of Musters Road, on what used to be 15.89 acres of farmland. Staff from our Ruddington chemist’s are finally getting to do their big walk in aid of a leading cancer charity this weekend – exactly a year later than they’d originally planned it. After it was postponed in 2021, due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, five employees from Evans Pharmacy on Charles Street are taking part in the ‘Peak District Mighty Hike 2022’ this Sunday, July 24th*. It’s a 13 mile trek starting at Darley Moor and concluding at the Biggin Village Playing Fields. They’ll be taking in some beautiful Derbyshire scenery along the way…

Two keen Ruddington allotment holders are celebrating being awarded both a trophy and year of ‘free’ gardening after scooping first prize in a friendly, annual contest. Sue Hallam and her partner Peter (pictured above) have won ‘The Best Allotment on Hareham Gardens’ for 2022 from the James Peacock Bread Charity. It not only owns all the allotments bordered by Asher Lane and Musters Road, but also regularly makes donations of money and produce to Ruddington residents in need. Special School Plans Approved

The wheels are now in motion for a Grade 2 listing building here in Ruddington to begin a new chapter in its history – after planning permission for a ‘special school’ there was granted by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). As RUDDINGTON.info reported in April, an application was submitted by Polaris Children’s Services to turn ‘Easthorpe House’ at 165, Loughborough Road into a school for pupils with special educational needs. The approval means the former offices of NHS Rushcliffe Clinical Commissioning Group will soon be back in use to provide classrooms for around 80 pupils aged…
