Nottinghamshire’s 2.99% Council Tax Rise

Just over a fortnight ago RUDDINGTON.info reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) would raise its share of our Council Tax by 3.2% in the next financial year. However, there’s now been an even more significant announcement affecting village residents – that Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) will hike up its share by almost 3% this April. RuddFest is Postponed Again

It’s been revealed that Ruddington’s much loved annual Beer and Cider Festival – which usually attracts thousands of visitors – will not be taking place this June as planned, due to continuing concerns about COVID-19. The decision was made in the wake of the Government’s ‘roadmap’ announcement on Monday that restrictions on large events and some hospitality will not be lifted until June 21st at the earliest – which is after the originally scheduled RuddFest 2021 dates of June 3rd-6th. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has spelt out today how the rollout of Coronavirus vaccines means we can finally start to plan our way of out of the latest ‘lockdown’. Green Light for New Footbridge

Trustees at Hareham Gardens Allotments have received the go-ahead to build a new bridge across their brook. It’s welcome news for the many gardeners who use it, since the current wooden bridge linking the 62 plots (pictured above with Plot 4 in the background) has begun to rot, leading to fears it may soon become unsafe. Government Adds to Pothole Pot

It’s hoped Ruddington’s roads might benefit from a central Government boost to local maintenance funds to speed up much needed pothole repairs. Nottinghamshire County Council has announced it has been awarded £8.28million specifically for fixing road craters in Nottinghamshire as part of the Department for Transport’s £2.5billion ‘Pothole Fund’. Ruddington’s Red Roof in Uganda

This latest photo from the Teso Region of Eastern Uganda shows how a classroom building project is moving forward nicely despite the problems of COVID-19 both in the UK and equatorial Africa.
