‘Petrol Powered’ Cyclist Injured in High Street Collision

Investigations are underway following an accident in Ruddington village centre involving a car and a cyclist riding an unusual, petrol-powered bicycle. The collision happened at around 10.15pm last night (Wednesday 27th November), at the junction of High Street and Kirk Lane, just outside The Frame Breakers pub. One eyewitness reported the bicycle was being powered by a small, internal combustion engine – and was “unlike anything I’d ever seen before!” A strong smell of petrol was reported, following the collision, as the bicycle was cleared from the road. Village centre traders are encouraging residents to #ShopLocal in the run up to this Christmas – with several businesses staying open later every Wednesday between now and the big day. Work For New Shopping Mall Begins

Following the granting of planning permission in July work started at the weekend on the site of the former Thomas Greengrocers’ storage building to create a chic shopping area for Ruddington. Co-op hands over £15.6K to Local Good Causes

Ruddington’s Co-op Supermarket has today presented cheques totalling over fifteen thousand pounds to the three beneficiaries of last year’s ‘Local Community Fund’. The grand local total for the 2018/2019 ‘Big Co-op Payout’ was £15,665.20 – comprising £5610.45 for Bloomin’ Dementia (top photo), plus £4827.65 for St. Peter’s Church and £5227.10 for Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park (below). The team behind the Ruddy Good Loyalty Card and Ruddington Village Market has just won the Celebrating Rushcliffe Award for ‘Community Group of the Year’ 2019. Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP), which only formed in April 2018, was recognised for galvanising village centre businesses into more initiatives to drive footfall to traders.
