Councillors Vote to Rescind Ruddington’s Green Belt

It’s just over a week since we revealed that FOUR Green Belt areas around the edge of our village had been given the Government Planning Inspector’s blessing to be sacrificed for at least 525 new houses. In his report, Senior Inspector Philip Lewis BA (Hons) MA MRTPI concluded that Rushcliffe’s Local Plan Part 2, as submitted for examination, was “legally compliant and sound, subject to a number of modifications” he has recommended. Man Arrested Following Incidents at Ruddington Stores

A man is in police custody in connection with a robbery and an attempted robbery at our village supermarkets. Rushcliffe Police report that a man entered Sainsbury’s Local on Dutton’s Hill (above) at about 5.40pm yesterday (Saturday 5 October 2019). He demanded a cashier should open the till – but ran off empty handed after the cashier sounded an alarm. About 10 minutes later a man entered Ruddington Co-op on Church Street. Police Report Record Haul During Knife Amnesty

Community support is being acknowledged in helping Nottinghamshire Police recover a record number of weapons during the nationwide ‘Operation Sceptre’ week of action last month. Officers reveal that, across our county, more than 1,000 weapons were taken out of circulation. 949 were handed in through the knife amnesty, between the 16th and 22nd September, and the rest through weapons sweeps, targeted operations and stop and search activity. A Christian bank, which operates from Ruddington Fields Business Park, is soon to be under new ownership. Kingdom Bank on Mere Way is, bizarrely, now Ruddington’s only bank, following the closure of our village centre HSBC and Barclays branches, however it is telephone and mail based. The business uses financial services to support Christian churches and charities – with its profits utilised to support Christian causes.
